The control method according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is a method for controlling a power transmission device that is provided with: a power transmission coil for outputting power to a power reception coil; a housing that is provided with the power transmission coil therein; and a moving member that is disposed on the surface of the housing, said moving member being disposed at a position overlapping the power transmission coil. In the method, in the cases where the moving member is holding a metallic foreign matter, the metallic foreign matter is moved from a position overlapping the power transmission coil to a position not overlapping the power transmission coil by moving the moving member from the position overlapping the power transmission coil to a position not overlapping the power transmission coil before starting the power transmission to the power reception coil from the power transmission coil. After the power transmission is completed, the moving member is returned, in a state wherein the moving member is holding the metallic foreign matter, to the position overlapping the power transmission coil from the position not overlapping the power transmission coil.
