Title:
METHOD OF CONTROLLING PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1985/002372
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A conventional serial printer in which a carriage is moved parallel a platen by, for example, a servo motor, has the problem that characters or symbols which are respectively printed by first and second printing operations in double printing are not aligned properly with each other, or their spacing differs. According to the method of this invention, the first printing operation is effected after a period of time which is long enough for carriage vibrations to attenuate. The second printing operation is effected after the carriage vibrations have attenuated sufficiently, in a manner similar to that of the conventional method. For this purpose, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the carriage feed effected after a subsequent printing operation within a program is sensed, and, when the feed is zero or a small value, any printing operation effected thereafter is regarded as being double printing.
