Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling the stopping of an automatically stopping internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle by means of a control unit, by which means an automatic stopping process is initiated when pre-determined stopping conditions are met, and an automatic starting process is initiated when at least one starting request is carried out. The invention is characterised in that the control unit controls the internal combustion engine, in the framework of the automatic stopping process, in such a way that at least one combustion is triggered in at least one cylinder, during the compression stroke, such that the internal combustion engine can be stopped more rapidly.
