Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an industrially convenient and inexpensive method for efficiently removing butenes from crude monofluorobutane that includes butenes without substantially causing the monofluorobutane to, inter alia, decompose or transform. In the method for purifying monofluorobutane, crude monofluorobutane containing butenes is brought into contact with trihalomethane in the presence of an alkali aqueous solution, the butenes are converted into compounds having a higher boiling point than the monofluorobutane, whereupon water is added to the obtained reaction mixture, the generated salt is dissolved, the organic layer is separated, and the separated organic layer is purified by distillation.
