Abstract:
A method in which, during a continuous mass polymerization process, a reaction solution containing a methacrylate-ester monomer is passed through tubing and made to contact the inside wall surfaces of said tubing in order to cool said reaction solution. The temperature of the reaction solution flowing into the tubing is at least 110°C, the temperature of the inside wall surfaces of the tubing that contact the reaction solution is at most 105°C, and the dissolved oxygen concentration of the reaction solution cooled by contact with the inside wall surfaces of the tubing is between 0.01 and 10 ppm, inclusive.
