Abstract:

A method for culturing a microorganism in the presence of a carbon source. The microorganism is a transformed microorganism into which a fadH gene encoding 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase, namely, a foreign gene encoding a protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, or a foreign gene encoding a protein comprising an amino acid sequence that shows 85% or more sequence identity with the aforesaid amino acid sequence is introduced. The carbon source contains a fat or oil that contains unsaturated fatty acids as the constituting fatty acids, or free unsaturated fatty acids.
