Abstract:

The disclosed method for cutting a glass film (G) involves: continuously cutting the glass film (G) along an intended cut line (8), which extends in the feed direction (a) in which the glass film is fed, and thereby splitting the glass film (G) with respect to the width direction thereof by utilizing the thermal stress produced by locally heating the glass film (G) along the intended cut line (8) and cooling the locally heated region (H) while feeding the glass film (G) in a predetermined direction; and, at the time of changing the respective directions of the split glass films (10), which are located adjacent to one another after the splitting, in a manner such that the split glass films (10) separate from one another in the front-face/back-face direction, creating a predetermined widthwise gap between the split glass films (10) after splitting the glass film (G) and before changing the directions of the split glass films (10).
