Abstract:
A method of cutting in working a cam shaft which is capable of reducing fluctuations in cutting load acting on a workpiece so as to improve precision in working without lowering operation efficiency. The method comprises such steps that: the circumference of the workpiece (1) having a cutting allowance (STK) almost uniform in thickness along the full length is divided into a plurality of blocks at equal angles; areas (S1, S2, ... Sn) of cut blocks are numerically analyzed for each block from data on lift of the workpiece (1) and the dimension (b) of the cutting allowance (STK); and the workpiece (1) is cut while NC instruction values relating to the rotational speed of the workpiece (1) in each block are controlled so that an area to be cut per unit time in each of the blocks is almost equal.
