METHOD OF CUTTING AND TOOL THEREFOR

In a tool for cutting, comprising: a housing for housing therein a driving mechanism; a base secured to the housing; a driving arm reciprocatingly and rockingly moved by the driving mechanism; and a saw blade secured to the driving arm and projecting from a slit of the base; said saw blade is provided at the forward end thereof with a first saw tooth portion for cutting-in and at one side thereof in the longitudinal direction with a second tooth portion. A square window hole can be quickly and accurately formed in a plate material such as a gypsum board and plywood by use of the cutting tool. That is, the saw blade is moved reciprocatingly and rockingly with the forward ends of both the base and the saw blade being brought into contact with an article to be cut, whereby the article to be cut is cut in by the first saw tooth portion to cause the saw blade to penetrate therethrough, thereafter, the saw blade is pushed along the surface of the article to be cut, whereby cutting of one side of the window hole can be completed by the second saw tooth portion. Operations as described above are carried out at respective sides of the window hole, so that the window hole can be formed in the plate material without forming a blank hole separately by use of a drill.
