Abstract:
Provided are a method for deleting characters displayed on a touch screen and an electronic device. According to the method, an amplitude threshold range of deleting gesture identification is set by the electronic device according to the size of characters displayed on the touch screen of the electronic device; the detected irregular touch gesture of a user, which is formed by a slide on the touch screen, is transformed into corresponding track coordinate sequence, and all track points in the track coordinate sequence are determined to be located within the amplitude threshold range; the coordinates of a plurality of key track points are determined from all the track points of the track coordinate sequence, and the touch gesture is determined as a deleting gesture when the coordinates of all the key track points meet a preset deleting gesture identification rule; and when the touch gesture is determined as the deleting gesture, characters in the touch screen area, corresponding to the track coordinate sequence, are deleted within the amplitude threshold range. By taking advantage of the touch screen, characters displayed on the electronic device are deleted manually.
