Title:
METHOD FOR DERIVING BUCKLING CONDITION OF FIBERS MOVING IN FLUID, BREAKING CONDITION CALCULATION METHOD, AND FIBER LENGTH DISTRIBUTION PREDICTION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/025930
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method for deriving a buckling condition of columnar fibers that move in fluid, a breaking condition calculation method, and a fiber length distribution prediction method make it possible to calculate a flow field around a column in a contracting flow in a stricter manner. A method for deriving a buckling condition that is the condition under which columnar fibers that move in fluid buckles comprises: a step of obtaining a fluid stress distribution acting on a column surface in a contracting flow by multiplying a dimensionless fluid stress distribution which is uniquely determined with respect to an aspect ratio r0' of the columnar fibers by μk at the location of the column (μ is the fluid viscosity, and k is the contraction rate (the gradient of the flow velocity in a longitudinal direction at the location of the fibers)); and a step of deriving the buckling condition using a minimum eigenvalue λ0 which is a buckling threshold value derived from the fluid stress distribution on the column surface. The method is characterized in that the buckling condition is expressed by μk ≥ -(λ0Er0'4logr0')/4 (where E is the Young's ratio, and r0' is the aspect ratio of the column).
