Abstract:
Provided are a method for detecting male infertility using a mutation in the GALNTL5 gene or the aberrant expression of GALNTL5 protein as an indicator, and a model animal for human male infertility, said model animal having a mutation induced in the Galntl5 gene thereof. The method for detecting male infertility detects male infertility using the aberrant expression of GALNTL5 genes in the sperm of a male subject as an indicator. The male infertility non-human model animal has some or all of the genes in the sperm deleted, and the GALNTL5 protein expression is lost or reduced.
