Abstract:
When a thickness sensor detects a corner turndown at the leading edge of a paper sheet being moved (Y at step S1), an optical sensor checks whether or not the leading edge is broken (S2). If the leading edge is not broken (N at step S2), it is assumed that the thickness sensor detects not a turndown but a foreign matter such as a tape used to repair a breakage (S3) and that there is no turndown, and the processing advances to step S8. If there is a breakage (Y at step S2), it is assumed that the thickness sensor detects a turndown and that there is a turndown at the leading edge (S4), and the processing advances to step S8. If there is no turndown at step S1 (N at step S1), the optical sensor checks the leading edge (S5). If there is a breakage (Y at step S5), it is assumed that there is a corner cut at the leading edge (S6) and that there is no turndown, and the processing advances to step S8. If there is no breakage (N at step S5), it is assumed that the paper sheet is normal (S7), and the processing advances to step S8. The trailing edge is similarly checked for a turndown at steps S8 to S14.
