Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for detecting the transition to a normal current of a superconducting wire material, wherein the transition to a normal current of the superconducting wire material that comprises a base material, a superconducting layer with a critical temperature of 77K or higher, and a metal stabilizing layer is detected. An optic fiber, wherein a plurality of fiber Bragg gratings are formed along the longitudinal direction of a core therein, is bonded and fixed to the superconducting wire material; the changes in the Bragg wavelength of the fiber Bragg gratings in relation to temperature changes in the superconducting wire material are calculated beforehand and a relationship formula for calculating the temperature of the superconducting wire material from the changes in the Bragg wavelength is found; the plurality of fiber Bragg grating temperature changes before and after transition to normal current by the superconducting wire material is found using the relationship formula; and the propagation speed for the transition to normal current is calculated based on the time difference between when the temperature increase started for the plurality of fiber Bragg gratings and the interval between the plurality of fiber Bragg gratings.
