Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for determination of glycosylated hemoglobin level by an optical means. Also disclosed is an apparatus for the determination. The wavelength to be employed for the determination is one at which the molecular excitation coefficients of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin agree or approximately agree with each other. Preferably, the wavelength falls within the range between 417 to 421 nm. The glycosylated hemoglobin level can be determined by column chromatography or the like using a sample prepared from an erythrocyte contained in the blood.
