Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for determining whether or not adipocytes are a cell population suitable for the gene transfer of a foreign gene in the preparation of the adipocytes for use in a gene therapy comprising introducing the foreign gene using a viral vector. In the method, the suitability is determined on the basis of the level of the expression of CD54 in the adipocytes, and it is determined that the adipocytes having a lower expression level of CD54 are suitable. An example of the cell population of adipocytes suitable for the foreign gene transfer is a cell population in which the positive rate for the expression of CD54 is less than 3% and/or the average fluorescence intensity ratio for CD54 is less than 2 as measured by a flow cytometry using a fluorescent antibody.
