The invention concerns a method and a device for determining instantaneous values of the amplification supplied by a pneumatic brake booster (14) in a motor vehicle braking device, by measuring the instantaneous values of the relative vacuum level in the vacuum chamber (24) of the brake booster and the hydraulic pressure in output of the master cylinder (16) using sensors (28 and 30) and by processing the output signals from said sensors with means (32) for calculating a pressure differential ( DELTA P) proportional to the instantaneous amplification of the brake booster and optionally an instantaneous value of the pressure (Prc) in the brake booster working chamber (26).
