Abstract:

The reliability and accuracy of quality determination is improved in the quality determination of fuel such as diesel fuel. The values of the ignition delay and flame spread rate of fuel to be determined are measured, the quality of the fuel to be determined is determined on the basis of the quality of fuel determined by a first range if the measured value of the ignition delay is in a range smaller than a reference line (71) or in a range greater than a reference line (72), which is the first range, and the quality of the fuel to be determined is determined depending on whether or not the measured value of the flame spread rate is in the range of a good-quality product on the basis of a straight line (81) which is a criterion if the measured value of the ignition delay is in a range from the reference line (71) to the reference line (72), which is a second range.
