Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for easily determining the presence or absence of caries or the risk of caries, irrespective of the existence of caries experience, and is a method for measuring the amount or abundance ratio of marker bacteria to total bacteria in a biological sample collected from a subject in order to determine the subject's risk of caries, wherein the marker bacteria are at least one type selected from the group consisting of bacteria of the genus Campylobacter, bacteria of the genus Veillonella, bacteria of the genus Treponema, bacteria of the genus Neisseria, bacteria of the genus Moraxella, bacteria of the genus Granulicatella, bacteria of the genus Alloprevotella, bacteria of the genus Dialister, bacteria of the genus Tannerella, bacteria of the genus Lachnoanaerobaculum, and bacteria of the genus Megasphaera.
