Abstract:
Provided is a fast, easy, and highly accurate method for determining the prognosis of cancer. A method for determining the prognosis of a patient with renal cell carcinoma, wherein the method includes (1) a step for treating genomic DNA prepared from the renal tissue of a subject using bisulfite, (2) a step for amplifying the DNA treated using bisulfite by PCR, (3) a step for subjecting the resulting PCR amplification product to ion exchange chromatography, (4) a step for obtaining the retention time of a detection signal obtained by chromatography, and (5) a step for determining that the prognosis of the subject's renal cell carcinoma is unfavorable if the result of step (4) is shorter than a retention time serving as a reference.
