Abstract:
A method of detoxifying PCB, comprising the primary oxidation step of oxidizing polybiphenyl chloride by combustion and the secondary oxidation step of bringing waste gas which may contain dioxins generated in the primary oxidation step into contact with a metal phthalocyanine derivative and further with an oxygen supply compound to thereby oxidize the waste gas. There is further provided a PCB detoxification apparatus comprising primary incinerator (10) capable of burning an oil containing PCB with the use of auxiliary fuel; and secondary oxidation reaction unit (12) connected in hermetically sealed fashion to the primary incinerator (10) and linked with a source for supplying a solution of metal phthalocyanine derivative and a source for supplying a solution of oxygen supply compound.
