Abstract:
A method of efficiently and safely detoxifying toxic compounds containing arsenic, etc.
There is provided a method characterized in that by the use of a food chain system,
a toxic compound containing at least one element selected from the group consisting
of arsenic, antimony and selenium is converted to a nontoxic substance produced
in the food chain system conducted under the supply of carbon source. Preferred
mode of this method of detoxifying such a toxic compound is characterized in that
the carbon source is any of sugars or organic acids. Still preferred mode of this
method of detoxifying such a toxic compound is characterized in that the sugars
are selected from the group consisting of glucose, galactose, fructose, sucrose,
mannose and maltose.
