Disclosed are a method and device for automatically stopping charging when a mobile terminal is fully charged. When a computer charges a mobile terminal via a USB port, a communication connection is established with the mobile terminal, and real-time battery level information sent by the mobile terminal is obtained via the communication connection. When it is determined that the mobile terminal is fully charged, the port device of the USB port is disabled, thereby automatically stopping charging. For a scheme wherein charging of a mobile terminal is performed by connection to a computer via a USB port, the present method automatically stops charging when the mobile terminal is fully charged, thereby solving the problem of over-charging. The present method does not require increased hardware costs, and is convenient to implement.
