Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security and safety-related services, etc.) on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. According to the present disclosure, a method performed by a terminal may comprise the steps of: receiving an RRC message, including information on one or more BFD sets, from a base station; identifying whether beam failure is detected for one or more reference signals included in the one or more BFD sets; when beam failure is detected for at least one of the one or more BFD sets, identifying at least one candidate beam reference signal on the basis of a candidate beam set associated with the BFD sets for which beam failure is detected; and transmitting a BFR request message including information about the at least one candidate beam reference signal.
