According to one embodiment, provided is a method for encoding an image, comprising the steps of: acquiring photography information determined in a step of capturing an image; generating metadata for determining a compression strength of the image on the basis of the photography information; determining a compression strength of the image on the basis of the metadata; and encoding the image on the basis of the determined compression strength.
