Description:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONNECTING A WALL-MOUNTED BOILER RELATIVE TO A HYDRAULIC AND/OR HEATING AND/OR TOWN GAS SYSTEM

The present invention relates to a method for connecting a wall-mounted boiler rela- tive to a hydraulic hot water and/or heating system and, optionally, related gas sys- tem. The invention also relates to a device for connecting a wall-mounted boiler rela- tive to a hydraulic hot water and/or heating system and, optionally, related gas sys- tem.

In all wall-mounted boilers it is possible to distinguish two types of basic circuits: the hydraulic circuit and the town gas circuit. Other common components to all boilers are: the control panel, the printed circuit board (electrically powered) and various technical accessories, provided by the manufacturer to deal with the various require- ments for installation, operation and integration with different types of systems.

The dimensions of a boiler are, generally, around 80 cm in height, around 40 cm in width and 30 cm in depth.

The hydraulic circuit in the boiler can be viewed as a single circuit that operates alter- natively either for heating or for the production of domestic hot water. Said hydraulic circuit is divided into two sub-circuits, the heating sub-circuit, connected to the heat exchanger in the combustion chamber (primary heat exchanger) and the sub-circuit for the production of domestic hot water connected to a secondary heat exchanger, which exchanges thermal energy between the primary and cold water coming from the water supply mains.

Compatibly with the circuits described and to produce the connections, for example, with a domestic heating and hot water system, in the lower part of a boiler there are, for example, provided :

- connector means on the boiler side for connection of a gas supply duct, relative to corresponding connector means on the system side, fixed to the wall and forming part of the town gas supply system;

- connector means on the boiler side for connection of a domestic hot water outlet duct, relative to corresponding connector means on the system side, fixed to the wall and forming part of the domestic hot water hydraulic system;

- connector means on the boiler side for connection of a cold water inlet duct, relative to corresponding connector means on the system side, fixed to the wall and forming part of the cold water hydraulic system; - connector means on the boiler side for connection of a hot water outlet duct corre- sponding to the delivery side of the heating system, relative to corresponding connec- tor means on the system side, fixed to the wall and forming, for example, part of the domestic heating system;

- connector means on the boiler side for connection of a hot water return duct of the heating system, relative to corresponding connector means on the system side, fixed to the wall and forming, for example, part of the domestic heating system.

The aforesaid connector means on the system side are arranged under and, where possible, at a short distance from the boiler.

In particular, the aforesaid connector means have connecting threaded connections with vertical axes and have standard sizes, 3/4" for the gas and the heating system, and 1/2" for the domestic hot water.

Often, the threaded connections of the connector means on the boiler side have differ- ent positions relative to the corresponding threaded connections of the connector means on the system side. In particular, the vertical axes of the threaded connections of the connector means on the boiler side can be staggered relative to the axes of the corresponding threaded connections of the connector means on the system side, ac- cording to respective planes orthogonal and/or parallel to the face of the wall on which the boiler is fixed.

Therefore, the connection ducts arranged between said connections of the connector means on the boiler side and on the system side, which are formed of ducts with re- lated connector means, must be adapted and positioned according to the particular needs of each case, and at times take relative arrangements that make connection of the connector means relative to the corresponding connector means on the boiler side and on the system side difficult.

This fact often causes difficulties in the installation of a wall-mounted boiler, resulting in considerable technical and financial expenditure.

Moreover, often the installation thus produced has an untidy arrangement of exposed ducts under the wall-mounted boiler, resulting in an appearance that is aesthetically inadequate for the domestic environment.

Furthermore, the aforesaid untidy arrangement of ducts often does not allow all the components that can be useful to facilitate servicing and maintenance of the system and of the boiler to be inserted in the space below the boiler.

Technical problem In the production of a hydraulic system branched from a wall-mounted boiler, there is the need to rationalize installation of the boiler relative to the system and to be able to insert, in the space below the boiler, all the components required, so as to facilitate servicing and maintenance of the system and of the boiler, and to make the aforesaid space below the boiler aesthetically pleasing.

Completely satisfactory solutions for the solution of the aforesaid technical problem are not known.

The documents W02006/059208 Al, FR 2 813 658 A3 and EP 1 243 868 A2 relate to a connection device of a wall-mounted boiler relative to a domestic hot water/heating hydraulic system and related gas system. Nonetheless, they do not offer a satisfactory solution to the aforesaid technical problem.

In this example, a wall-mounted boiler C2 is mounted on and projects relative to a wall P2, while the corresponding system 12 is recessed relative to the front face of said wall P2. Considering this relative arrangement, the present invention provides the connection device 10.2, which is identical to the connection device 10.1 described above, as in any case the threaded free ends of the connector means on the boiler side RC2, RC3, RC4 and RC5, and the respective threaded free ends of the connector means on the system side RI2, RI3, RI4, RI5 are mutually coaxial two by two accord- ing to respective common vertical axes.

The reference numeral 13.2 indicates a removable front cover of the connection device 10.2.

7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15)

In this example of embodiment, a wall-mounted boiler C3 is mounted on and projects relative to the front face of a wall P3 and also the free ends of the respective connec- tor means of a corresponding system 13 project relative to the front face of said wall P3.

In this arrangement, the reference numerals 3RC2, 3RC3, 3RC4 and 3RC5 indicate connector means provided in the boiler C3 and 3RI2, 3RI3, 3RI4, 3RI5 indicate the corresponding connector means provided in the system 13 (see, in particular, Fig. 6).

As can be seen, for exam- pie, in Fig. 3, the two vertical axes of the two opposite pairs of threaded free ends of the connector means on the boiler side and on the system side 3RC3/3RI3 and 3RC4/3RI4 are staggered from each other and lie in different vertical planes parallel to the front face of the wall P3. In the same way, the vertical axes of the other opposite pairs of threaded free ends of the connector means on the boiler side and on the sys- tem side lie in different vertical planes parallel to the front face of the wall P3 and said axes are thus staggered from each other in different vertical planes relative to said front face of the wall P3. Moreover, the mutual distances of said axes also vary.

Third example of embodiment of the connection device of the invention (Figs. 16, 17 and 18)

Also in this example of embodiment, reference is made to a wall-mounted boiler, not represented, but identical to the boiler C3, which is mounted and projects relative to the front face of a wall, for example P3, and also the free ends of the respective con- nector means of a corresponding system, for example a system such as 13, project relative to the front face of said wall P3.

In this arrangement, the connector means (hydraulic and pneumatic) provided in the aforesaid boiler are not illustrated and nor are the corresponding connector means (hydraulic and pneumatic) provided in the respective system, but reference is none- theless made by way of example to the aforesaid boiler C3 and related System 13 for the relative arrangement of the respective connector means. Therefore, reference should be made to the foregoing description in this regard.

In this example of embodiment, the connection device of the invention is indicated as a whole with 10.4 (Figs. 16, 17 and 18) and essentially comprises:

- a support 11.4, fixed at a short distance relative to the front face of said wall P3 on which said boiler is mounted between said hydraulic connector means on the boiler side and said hydraulic connector means on the system side, and between pneumatic connector means for the town gas duct on the boiler side and on the system side, wherein said support 11.4 is configured as a rectangular frame, for example made of metal, having :

- an essentially horizontal upper crosspiece 11.4a, close to the threaded free ends of the connector means above on the boiler side, wherein said crosspiece 11.4a is structured as a metal profile with a quadrangular section;

- connection pneumatic duct means 4CG1 having essentially vertical axes and an upper threaded free end, extending beyond said upper crosspiece 11.4a, and which are fixed relative to said stable retaining means with telescoping arm 12.4a30 by means of clamping inside the respective clamp fixing member FA.

As is evident from the foregoing, the connection device 10.4 described above allows all the functions explained with reference to the connection device 10.1 of the first embodiment of the invention to be implemented.

Moreover, said connection device 10.4 allows correct and stable relative arrangement of the threaded free ends of the connection hydraulic duct means 4CA2, 4CA3, 4CA4, 4CA5 relative to the corresponding connector means on the boiler side and on the sys- tem side, and of the threaded free ends of the connection pneumatic duct means 4CG1 relative to the pneumatic connector means on the boiler side and on the system side to be implemented, by means of adjustment, during assembly, of the position of each of the respective vertical axes simultaneously according to two vertical planes essentially orthogonal to each other. This adjustment is implemented by means of moving, along said upper 11.4a and lower 11.4b crosspieces, said upper 12.4al, 12.4a2, 12.4a3, 12.4a4, 12.4a5 and lower (12.4bl) slider guide means with the cor- responding upper 12.4a l0, 12.4a20, 12.4a40, 12.4a50 and lower (12.4bl0) telescop- ing arms, and by means of extension / retraction of each of said telescoping arms, un- til the two threaded free ends of each connection duct 4CA2, 4CA3, 4CA4, 4CA5 and 4CG1 are arranged axially corresponding to the corresponding connector means (hy- draulic and pneumatic) on the boiler side and on the system side.

After the correct relative arrangement of the parts has been implemented as indicated above, both said slider guide means and said telescoping arm fixing means are fixed in position, for example by means of respective pressure screws.

Variant of embodiment relative to the above third example of embodiment (Figs. 19. 201

In this variant of embodiment, the above described telescoping arm fixing means 12.4al0, 12.4a20, 12.4a30, 12.4a40, 12.4a50 associated with said rectilinear slider guide means (for example upper 12.4al, 12.4a2, 12.4a3, 12.4a4, 12.4a5) are re- placed.

With reference to Figs. 19 and 20, articulated arm fixing means 12.4a60 are associ- ated with the upper crosspiece 11.4a of the support 11.4 and each comprise three rigid segments 12.4a61, articulated to one another and relative to slider guide means 12.4al, on one side, and relative to a clamp fixing member FA, on the other side, by means of respective hinges with essentially vertical axes 12.4a610.

As can be easily understood, by means of the aforesaid arrangement, each of said ar- ticulated arm fixing means 12.4a60 can oscillate in the horizontal plane of the upper crosspiece 11.4a of the support 11.4, in a position in front of this crosspiece, substan- tially in a range of 180° and take an variable extension projecting relative to said crosspiece 11.4a. Consequently, the corresponding clamp fixing member FA can take a plurality of different positions in the aforesaid plane and in a position in front of the crosspiece 11.4a.

Likewise, there are associated with the lower crosspiece of the support 11.4 respective articulated arm fixing means (not illustrated), each comprising three rigid segments, articulated to one another and relative to slider guide means, on the one side, and relative to a clamp fixing member FA, on the other side, by means of respective hinges with essentially vertical axes.

This fact allows correct and stable relative arrangement of the threaded free ends of the connection hydraulic duct means relative to the corresponding connector means on the boiler side and on the system side, and of the threaded free ends of the con- nection pneumatic duct means relative to the pneumatic connector means on the boiler side and on the system side, by means of adjustment, during assembly, of the position of each of the respective vertical axes in said horizontal plane and in a posi- tion in front of the upper and lower crosspieces of the said support. Also the present embodiment of the invention comprises a removable cover (not illus trated) provided to cover, at least frontally, said hydraulic / pneumatic duct means housed in said frame support. Said cover is configured as a sheet metal front hood that engages by snap fitting onto said support fixed to the wall.

Said crosspieces Zll, Z12 and Z21 have respective semi-circular recesses (only the semi-circular recesses Z14 of the frame Zl are visible in the drawing), which form cor- responding circular holes, axially aligned two by two when the crosspieces Zll, Z12 and Z21 of said two frames Zl, Z2 are mutually juxtaposed.

Said two mutually connected frames Zl, Z2 provide support means including four support elements, i.e., the respective crosspieces juxtaposed two by two Zll, Z12 and Z21, relative to which there are supported :

- connection hydraulic duct means CA2, CA3, CA4, CA5, having respective essentially vertical axes and respective threaded free ends, respectively extending beyond said upper crosspieces Zl l, Z21 and said lower crosspieces Z12, through said correspond- ing pairs of axially aligned holes, wherein said threaded free ends are provided with corresponding threaded connector means (not illustrated) for connection relative to said connector means on the boiler side and said connector means on the system side;

- pneumatic duct means CGI having an essentially vertical axis and at least one threaded free end extending beyond said upper crosspieces Zl l, Z21, through a cor- responding hole, while another lower free end is contained inside said support with two juxtaposed frames Zl, Z2, wherein said upper threaded free end is provided with corresponding threaded connector means (not illustrated) for connection relative to said connector means on the boiler side;

- stable retaining means of each of said connection hydraulic duct means CA2, CA3, CA4, CA5, comprising, at each threaded free end of said duct means, a pair of inter- nally threaded mounting nuts, respectively upper and lower, juxtaposed and clamped against the two opposite faces (inner and outer) of said upper crosspieces Zl l, Z21 and said lower crosspieces Z12, respectively;

- stable retaining means of said connection pneumatic duct means CGI, comprising at said upper threaded free end of said duct means a pair of internally threaded mount- ing nuts, juxtaposed and clamped against the two opposite faces (inner and outer) of said upper crosspieces Zl l, Z21.

Moreover, said device 10.1' comprises two covers 13.1', one front and one back, re- movably connected respectively with the frame Z1 and the frame Z2, which protect the arrangement of said connection hydraulic duct means CA2, CA3, CA4, CA5, of said connection pneumatic duct CGI, and of the auxiliary hydraulic means DF, DP and F9 connected with respective hydraulic duct means and included between said upper Zl l, Z21 and lower Z12 horizontal crosspieces of said two frames Zl, Z2.

Said two frames Zl, Z2 and related two covers 13.1' are made of molded plastic ma- terial and provide two half-shells, forming said device 10.1', which can be pre- assembled, before installation on site.

As can be seen from the foregoing, with the present invention it is possible to achieve the objects indicated in the introductory part of this specification in a simple and effec- tive manner.
