Abstract:
The present invention controls acceleration so that the speed of a vehicle, which is being automatically driven, approaches a target vehicle speed. When an own vehicle catches up to another vehicle that is traveling ahead, the speed of the own vehicle is limited according to the inter-vehicle distance to the other vehicle. The acceleration is changed according to the frequency in which the own vehicle catches up to a preceding vehicle that is another vehicle right before the own vehicle and another vehicle that is traveling ahead of the preceding vehicle.
