Abstract:
A hybrid vehicle comprises an engine (E) capable of switching between a stoichiometric combustion mode and a lean combustion mode and a motor-generator (MG) capable of torque assist by means of powering and torque absorption by means of regeneration. In terms of the boundary between the stoichiometric region and the lean region, a second boundary (L2) during torque reduction exhibits hysteresis toward the low-torque side compared to a first boundary (L1) during torque increase. When transitioning from stoichiometric to lean, the delay in increasing intake air amount prompts fuel reduction and performance of torque assist by the motor-generator (MG) and incremental change to the exhaust air-fuel ratio.
