A method and device for controlling traveling of a vehicle. The method comprises: obtaining position information of a vehicle (S1); obtaining image information of a traffic lane where the vehicle is located (S2); parsing the image information of the traffic lane to obtain position information of traffic lane lines of the traffic lane (S3); analyzing the position information of the vehicle and the position information of the traffic lane lines to obtain a distance value a between one side of the vehicle and a traffic lane line on the same side (S4); comparing the distance value a between one side of the vehicle and the traffic lane line on the same side with a preset distance range value b between one side of the vehicle and the traffic lane line the same side, and determining whether the vehicle deviates from the traffic lane according to the comparison result (S5); and if yes, prompting a user that the vehicle deviates from the traffic lane (S6). A vehicle can be prevented from deviating from a traffic lane during traveling. In addition, by means of recognition of the type of a traffic lane line, a user can be prompted when the vehicle deviates from the traffic lane, so that traveling safety of the vehicle is improved.
