Abstract:
[Problem] In the controlling of the opening/closing timing for a valve by means of an ECU, depending on the engine rotational frequency the responsiveness of a variable phase device may be lowered and suitable control may not be possible, making it impossible to obtain the desired engine performance. Accordingly, the present invention addresses the problem of providing a method and a device for controlling a variable phase device with which the variable phase device achieves adequate responsiveness even in a low-rotation region. [Solution] A phase control method for a variable phase device whereby: on the basis of the relative angle in the current step (calculated from the rotational speed values for various shafts) and a command value for an electromagnetic clutch in the current step, a kalman filter is used to calculate an estimated value for the relative angle one step later; this estimated value is input as a feedback signal to a sliding mode controller; and, on the basis of the value of this feedback signal, the command value for one step later is calculated and is output to the electromagnetic clutch.
