Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CUTTING A FLUID MATERIAL BETWEEN A NOZZLE AND A CONTAINER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2000041929
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
A cutoff tool for severing a neck of a difficult-handling fluid material (a fluid material which is highly viscous, highly adhering, highly cohering, and/or shear thickening) includes a rotating whip (266), for example a string or a wire. The whip may be rotated at a sufficiently high rate, for example by a motor (260), so as to prevent adherence of the fluid material to the whip, for example by use of centrifugal forces to fling fluid material off of the whip. A system for filling containers (214) includes a cutoff tool operatively coupled with a filling nozzle (228) and a container clamp (220). A method of filling a container may include clamping the container, inserting a filling nozzle (228) into the container, dispensing fluid material into the container, withdrawing the filling nozzle (228) from the container (214) during and/or after the filling, drawing back fluid material through the filling nozzle so as to thin a neck of fluid material between the filling nozzle and the filled container, and severing the neck, for example by using a cutoff tool (246).
