Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and a device for decoding a fast soft decision-based linear code using a continuous partial syndrome search, which can dramatically reduce computational complexity while exhibiting the same performance as an existing ordered statistics decoder (OSD). The decoding method comprises the steps of: sorting codewords of an inputted linear code in descending order on the basis of reliability; dividing a candidate codeword obtained from a leftmost or a preset important part among the sorted codewords into least reliable bases (LRBs) and most reliable bases (MRBs); subdividing each of the LRBs into multiple sections; calculating a partial Hamming weight of a partial syndrome for a first section among the subsections of the subdivided LRB; comparing the partial Hamming weight with a preset reference value; and stopping decoding of the candidate codeword when the partial Hamming weight is greater than the reference value.
