Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and a device for detecting an idle frequency band. The method comprises: obtaining a covariance matrix of signals transmitted on a channel within a present duration, the covariance matrix being used to represent correlations between data on each of subcarriers; determining, according to the covariance matrix, whether there is an authorized user signal on the channel, and when there is an authorized user signal on the channel, an idle subcarrier boundary is obtained according to the covariance matrix; and determining, according to the idle subcarrier boundary, an idle frequency band. Thus, the invention determines, according to the covariance matrix, whether there is an authorized user signal on the channel, and an idle frequency band is determined according to the obtained idle subcarrier boundary when there is an authorized user signal, thereby resolving the issues of the prior art in which, when there are multiple non-ideal factors, it is impossible to detect whether there is an authorized user signal in an OFDM cognitive radio system, and an idle frequency band cannot be determined .
