Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTING INSULATION RESISTANCE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1988/004055
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Method of measuring the insulation resistance of an electric circuit while it is live. At least two low frequency measurement signals of different frequencies are applied to the electric circuit, the low frequency measurement signals fed back to the ground of the electric circuit are detected according to frequency, and the effective components are compared with each other. This means that not only the insulation resistance equivalent of a parallel circuit containing a resistor and a capacitor can be measured, but also the insulation resistance equivalent of a series circuit containing a resistor and a capacitor, which has been difficult to measure. When the two insulation resistances obtained according to frequency coincide with each other, their value is used as the insulation resistance value of the electric circuit. When these two resistances are different from each other, a third measurement signal of a different frequency is further applied to the circuit, and the insulation resistance of the electric circuit is calculated from the three insulation resistance values thus obtained.
