Abstract:
According to the present invention, a time-series waveform of tire vibration detected by an acceleration sensor is screened by a screening means; the time-series waveform of tire vibration for each time window is extracted to calculate a characteristic vector for each time window, after which a kernel function is calculated from the characteristic vector for each time window and from a road surface characteristic vector, which is the characteristic vector for each time window calculated from the time-series waveform of tire vibration determined for each road-surface state calculated in advance; and the values of an identifying function that uses the kernel function are compared to determine the road-surface state, whereby the road-surface state can be determined from the time-series waveform of tire vibration without detecting a peak position or measuring the vehicle wheel speed, and robustness relative to changes in tire size can be used in the determination of the road-surface state.
