The present invention relates to a method for providing information about the occurrence or not of a viral infection, the method comprising: a first step for preparing a dried tear sample on a substrate; a second step for measuring a Raman spectrum from the dried tear sample; a third step for splitting the measured Raman spectrum to extract Gaussian sub-peaks; a fourth step for drawing a log value of the relative intensity ratio of a peak corresponding to an amide III β-sheet and a peak corresponding to C-H modification; and a fifth step for determining the sample as being normal if the drawn value is positive, or as being infected with a virus if the drawn value is negative.
