Abstract:
A method and device for evaluating the quality of a digital image, applied to the field of communications. The method is used for dealing with a situation where an expression space and an observation space of a digital image are different. The method for evaluating the quality of a digital image is to calculate, in a space to be evaluated, the objective quality of the digital image reflected in the observation space. The device for evaluating the quality of a digital image comprises a distortion value generation module, a distortion value processing module, and a digital image quality evaluation module. The method may provide, for the digital image in the space to be evaluated, a method for accurately and quickly calculating the objective quality in the observation space. The application of the method to a digital image or digital sequence can provide an accurate bit-rate allocation solution for compressed encoding, and the application of the method to a digital image or digital video encoding tool can greatly improve the encoding performance.
