Abstract:

A method for fitting a fitting member, such as a fitting nut or fitting bolt, onto a metal plate (2). The metal plate (2) is positioned on a die (51) having a fitting protrusion (51b) formed on an end face thereof; a fitting member is positioned over this metal plate, such that the location of a fitting recess (1b) thereof coincides with the fitting protrusion (51b); and a punch (52) is brought into proximity with the die (51), thereby pressing the fitting member against the metal plate (2). While the upper surface of the metal plate (2) at a location in opposition to the fitting recess (1b) is constrained by a lower protruding part (52b) of the punch or by the fitting member, plastic flow is induced in the metal plate within the fitting recess (1b), thereby fitting the fitting member onto the metal plate without creating a hole.
