The aim of the invention is to join in a simple and inexpensive manner at least two parts. Said aim is achieved by a method for joining at least two parts (1, 2) which are brought into contact with each other at least in one joining area. According to the inventive method, a support element (5) is in contact with a first (1) of the two parts (1,2) at least in the joining area, at least one protrusion (3a-c) penetrates the parts (1, 2) in the joining area in the direction of the support element (5), the support element (5) is two-dimensionally supported at least in the joining area counter to the penetrating movement of the protrusion (3a-c), and the penetration of the parts (1, 2) by the protrusion (3a-c) and the counteracting two-dimensional support of the support element (5) cause the penetrated material of the parts (1, 2) to be deformed in a plastic manner in a direction that is perpendicular to the penetrating movement of the projection (3a-c), the support element (5) also being deformed.
