Abstract:
A method and a device for joining billets, in which, for performing continuous hot rolling with high productivity, the rear end of a preceeding billet and the forward end of another following billet are brought into contact with each other at the inlet side of the hot rolling apparatus, and a heating process to impress an alternating magnetic field to the billets so as to pass through said billets in the direction of thickness thereof in a zone where the both billets are in contact with each other is combined with another process to press at least one of said billets, thereby enabling speedy and reliable joining of the both billets.
