A method of manufacturing a belt material for tire, comprising the steps of spirally winding a ribbon (39), having a plurality of linear cords (39a) disposed longitudinally and coated with rubber (39b), on the outer peripheral surface of a drum (35) at specified pitches (T1) while the drum (35) is rotated, sticking the side edges of the wound ribbon (39) to each other so as to form a cylindrical wound body (40), and a linearly moving rotating blade (45) in the axial direction of the drum (35) in contact with a spiral blade groove (35a) formed in the drum (35) at specified pitches (T2) while the drum (35) is rotated so as to cut the wound body (40) spirally so as to form a belt material (46A) having a specified width (W1) and a cord inclination angle (B1).
