Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a coil spring, whereby a coating film having adequate corrosion resistance and chipping resistance in a single coat thereof can be uniformly formed on the surface of a coil spring. A method for manufacturing a coil spring comprises dipping a coil spring (S) of a vehicle suspension member in a fluidized bed (2) in which a powder coating material (P) is fluidized and coating the coil spring (S). The fluidized bed (2) has a vertical flow region (8) in which the powder coating material (P) flows in an upward or downward direction. The coil spring (S) is dipped in the vertical flow region (8) of the fluidized bed (2) in an orientation in which an end turn part (E1) of the coil spring (S) faces upward, and the coil spring (S) is periodically moved (R2) relative to the vertical flow region (8) in a direction including a component perpendicular to the central axis (X) of the coil spring (S).
