Abstract:
In order to manufacture a titanium alloy ingot having a more correct and uniform chemical composition, the method of the present invention includes a titanium-containing raw material supply step for supplying a raw material 50 to a hearth 7, a refining step for refining a melt 51, a filling step for filling a mold 8 with the melt 51, an additive supply step for supplying an additive 54 including at least one of aluminum and tin to at least one of the melt 51 in the hearth 7 and the melt 51 in the mold 8, and a casting step. In the additive supply step, an additive supply position B1 is set in a downstream region 15 from the hearth 7. The downstream region 15 is a region between an end point Ce and a position separated 50% of the path length B of the melt 51 in the base 7 from a start point Cs of the path C of the melt 51 in the base 7, in the main flow direction D.
