Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MEASURING A MASS FLOW
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003012375
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Disclosed is a device (1) used to measure the mass flow of a particular solid (2) transported with the aid of a gas. Said device comprises a device (5) which is used to create an electromagnetic field (6), a measuring area being defined therein. An evaluation device (7) for the electromagnetic radiation which is reflected at least on the solid is connected to a detector (11). The evaluation device (7) is provided with a differentiator (13) which is connected to the detector (11) for detecting reflected electromagnetic radiation. A rectifier (17) is connected to the differentiator in order to form an amount, whereby the mass flow is obtained from the reflection mass. The reflection is measured, at least on the solid (2) within the measuring area of the magnetic field (6), whereupon the differential quotient is formed as a function of time from the chronological progression of the measuring signal and the amount is obtained therefrom. A measuring signal is obtained from the non-homogeneity of the electromagnetic fiel (6), forming the integral over time of the amount of the reflected power derived from time. Said measuring signal is proportional to the mass flow.
