Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for operating a driving engine for a vessel for transporting liquefied petrol gas accommodated at low temperature in a gas container (20), wherein a first partial flow of the boil-off gas evaporating in the gas container is supplied to the driving engine as an energy source, and the pressure and temperature of the first partial flow are increased by at least one compressor (22) before entering the driving engine. According to the invention, a second partial flow of the boil-off gas conducted over the compressor (22) is re-liquefied by cooling and expansion and recirculated to the gas container (20), wherein the expansion of the recirculated boil-off gas is carried out by way of a turboexpander (30), the output energy is supplied for the purpose of operating the vessel. The vaporous part of the gas leaving the turboexpander (30) is conducted in the counterflow along the second partial flow and recirculated into the compressor. The gas supplied to the driving engine is either decoupled directly downstream of the compressor (22) or withdrawn from the recirculation circuit.
