Abstract:
Proposed is a method of preheating mats of chips or fibres in the manufacture of chip or particle board or other articles, plus a heating device for carrying out the method. The mat (7) is placed on a gas-permeable support (8) in a housing (1) with an air inlet (2) at the top and an air outlet (3) at the bottom and the mat positioned such that it divides the interior (9) of the housing essentially into a reduced-pressure chamber (10) underneath and a air-feed chamber (11) above. The air pressure in the reduced-pressure chamber (10) is lowered by means of a suction device (4) connected to the air outlet (3) so that air passes from the feed chamber (11) through the mat (7) and its support (8) into the reduced-pressure chamber (10). The air flowing through the air inlet (2) into the feed chamber (11) is pre-heated by means of a heater (5) located in the stream of air.
