METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PREVENTING SHOPLIFTING AND BROWSE OF DISPLAYED BOOK

A device for preventing browse of a displayed book in a book shop comprises a cylindrical holding member (A) with a slip-off prevention part (4) for a book (B)at the rear edge and a cutout part (5) in which at least one of the book insertion front edges of both side walls (3) facing each other is reduced in length by the binding margin of the book, a provision member (G) guided by a guide member (F) installed on the exposed surface of the holding member not covered by the book, a stopper (6) so attached to the provision member or the holding member as to be positioned at the rear surface of the book, and a lock device (H) so attached as to maintain the relation of the engagement of the stopper with the back cover of the book by preventing the provision member from releasing off the holding member. Consequently, the books displayed in a shop can be prevented from being browsed.
