METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SEPARATING THE SOLID PHASE FROM THE DRILLING MUD

A method of separating the solid phase from the drilling mud consists in forming an adhesive layer (2) of the drilling mud on a closed curved surface (3) partially immersed into that drilling mud and subsequently casting a jet (5) of an ionized gas tangentially to the adhesive layer (2), particles of the solid phase thus being removed by the jet from the drilling mud (1) and carried away therefrom. The linear velocity of the adhesive layer (2) within the zone of its contact with the jet (5) of the ionized gas is regulated by adjusting the velocity of the gas jet (5). The device for separating the solid phase from the drilling mud comprises a container filled with the drilling mud and housing a rotatable drum intended for forming on its cylindrical surface (83) during its rotation an adhesive layer (2) of the drilling mud; a nozzle oriented parallel to the tangent to the surface (3) of the drum (4) and connected to a source of the pressurized gas to form the gas jet (5) carrying away solid particles from the drilling mud; a pair of electrodes connected to a high voltage direct current source for ionization of the gas jet.
