A separating and collecting method, comprising the steps of feeding liquid containing objective substances to a carrier capable of collecting the objective substances to separate the objective substances from the liquid and hold the substances on the carrier, and collecting the objective substances from the carrier. The liquid is allowed to flow toward the carrier by the injection pressure of a spray container. Desirably, the method further comprises an operation to remove, by washing, those substances other than the objective substances after the objective substances are held on the carrier. The separation, washing, and collection of the objective substances can be performed at low cost by efficiently allowing the separated and collected substances to come into contact with the carrier having such properties as to hold the objective substances, and a separation and collection device can be downsized.
