Abstract:
When picking up an image in a log measurement mode, the distance to logs is detected and an individual image area extraction unit (51) extracts individual image areas (53A - 53L) of the logs. An individual line image generation unit (61) sequentially selects the individual image areas (53A - 53L) and generates an individual line image (62) for each. A removal unit (66) removes a center neighboring contour line (71), a boundary contour line (72), a peripheral contour line (73), and an already determined contour line (74) from among the line drawings in an individual line image (62). When the total number of pixels in the region where an estimated elliptical shape (76) generated by an estimated shape determining unit (67) and the remaining contour line (75) inside the modified line image (64) overlap is greater than a threshold, the estimated elliptical shape (76) is estimated to be the correct shape. An object shape identification unit (83) extracts the estimated elliptical shape (76) as the shape of the log. A dimension measurement unit (84) measures the dimensions of the estimated elliptical shape that was extracted. An actual dimension calculation unit (85) calculates the actual dimensions of the log on the basis of the dimensions measured by the dimension measurement unit (84), the distance to the log, and the focus distance.
